Nippon Teacup w Saucer Set of 4 Hand Painted Pink Flowers Vintage set of hand painted teacups and saucers featuring pink flowers on each side accented with green leaves and vines centered between two thin gold lines. The charming handle is shaped like a piece of bamboo. The cups are 3.75" across the rim and the saucers are 6" across. The cups are a translucent porcelain while the matching saucers are a little heavier but still translucent when held to a light. The saucers are marked with a decal which states "Hand painted Made in Nippon" with a TT in intersecting diamonds in the center which is the mark of Takito. The Nippon mark dates prior to 1921 when American import law changed to require the place of origin be marked on a product in English. Since Nippon was an adaptation of a description of the island country in the native language, Nippon was no longer acceptable under the new law. Back stamps after 1921 state "Japan" or "Made in Japan." The china is of household quality and there are inclusions in 2 of the cups. All of the rims are slightly uneven on the inside of the rim, they are not chipped, this is typical of the manufacture and quality. No chips cracks or damage.
